  • Probably long past its prime. Full bodied and still drinkable, but a bit sulphury and uninteresting. May have fared better with longer decanting, but I doubt that it would substantially improve anymore.

  • This was very similar to the bottle I had a year ago so I won't go into detail. This time I found it a bit more harmonious without quite as much funk, volatile acidity, or alcohol. Tee finish is actually quite pleasing and smooth with two hours of air, showing bits of high tone acidity.

  • A little over the hill, but opened over time with some good fruit and soft tannins

  • Truly flawless cork, without any creepage upward. Vibrant color showing hints of fading. On the pop and pour aromas are slightly reduced and this smells a little funky, like cooked mushrooms on a bed of forest floor. There's some wet wood in there too, coupled with some dried plums. With a few hours air things mellowed quite a bit, offering aromas of charcoal, spice, and gravel that I quite like. The palate hits with more of the funky dried plums, but then it begins to get brighter and acids dial up slightly. Pretty smooth, expressing plenty of deep fruit and funk. Nice acids, and it feels a bit like coca cola as I swallow. There's definitely some volatile acidity coupled with some alcohol noticeable immediately on the finish. Again, after a few hours open this too fades a bit, revealing more mild acid and slightly musty mushroom and bright, yet dried red and black fruits. Pretty funky and musty on the backend, which definitely takes away from the overall enjoyment.

  • Wow, surprised at how fresh and youthful this old boy was. Dark purple color, complex bouquet of raisins, chocolate covered blueberries, spices, Silky tannins but good structure still, well balanced, well made and still going strong.
