  • Hefty, robust. There is still plenty of acidity left but also a note of cooked prune/raisins that I really don’t care for. Also feels like there is some RS here. Did not meet expectations.

  • Another very good Easton zin. Relatively big and bold, full bodied. Earthy tannins, but also lots of dark fruit flavor.

  • Not a criticism, but I detected just a little VA. I would not wait on these, need to drink now. This got better with a bit of air, and it's not a heavy handed Zin--I get fruit, but not jammy cooked fruit. Because the price on this was very reasonable, it's an "any night of the week" wine, and it went well with roasted chicken, but would go fine with burgers, lamb, pretty much anything you throw at it (maybe not red sauces).

  • Absolutely perfect cork – which I expect from all Easton/Terre Rouge wines at this point. Dark opaque ruby, a bit cloudy. PnP – very interesting nose but needs a few minutes decanting.

After 15 minutes it has a nose of dried cherries, fruitcake, dried currants, strawberry jam, mild cedar, and a hint of olive brine. After a few more swirls, cinnamon and nutmeg aromas form. Very complex and layered. Full bodied, high acidity, and just teetering that fine line between juicy and jammy. Dried cherries, dried and fresh currants, dried blackberries, fresh strawberries, and sweet baking spices. Strong chewy tannins. Medium-long finish that starts off with light cedar and mild black pepper then ends with wild grapes, flowers, and minerals.

This is hitting everything just right for me for a fruity wine. The high acidity keeps the jammy dried fruit notes in check. I feel that it can go for much longer in the cellar. I now regret only buying 4 bottles of this during the mixed-case summer sale since this is a killer QPR at $24/bottle. This might be my favorite vintage of the Easton Estate zin so far.

  • Tasted at Frisco Prime ( https://friscoprime.com ) in Frisco, Colorado- fine dining establishment we highly recommend.
We were concerned given that this was nearly an 11 year old Zin, but it turned out great - jammy, but not overly so; elegant and smooth, but not timid. 100% varietally correct. Drank about 75% of it and took it home.
The next night it was possibly even better.
This wine is nearly at the end of its life; no breathing or decanting, just popnpour. Drink by end of year
