Adriana's birthday party (80) and dinner and 'her' Frans opened some nice bottles: a vintage not often seen; lots of bitters, firm acidity, modest sweetness & aftertaste; the overall impression is of a noble wine with a classic impression, 87 points + 1 for its originality.

Colour medium orange, Cork partly socked, on opening first smells of orange skin and some citrus and developing in the glass for the next 2 hours, still balanced, mid pallet still nice, some walnut in the aftertaste. Again a 1984 Sauternes which is surprisingly well made. Will hold at least for another 5 years.

Rieussec Tasting (Tom's House, Palo Alto): My #7, group's #4. Slight chlorine, hollow; palate has sweetness, metallic, but balanced on palate, short-med finish. 86-87 Opened up nicely, more density on the palate. Excellent. 91
