From 375, depressed cork but reasonable high shoulder fill. Cork shredded even with a Durand and had to be decanted. Deep caramel color; nose is aromatic, toffee, creme brulee, dried apricot, earl grey tea; palate is full bodied, medium balanced sweetness, medium acidity, again some toffee and caramel, medium persistence and fruit has faded on the palate towards the finish; finish is medium length and has slight citrus rind. Overall this is a balanced, mature sauternes, more complex on the nose than the palate, overall enjoyable and a treat just based on its age, but ultimately not a sauternes that produces fireworks (which isn't surprising given the relative weakness of the vintage for sauternes in general). 91

Amy's Semicentennial Birthday "Season"; 7/21/2017-7/23/2017 (La Jolla, California): From a bottle with good provenance, this medium rust-colored, limpid elixer teems with aromas and flavors of crème brûlée, tangerine, honey, peach and vanilla. Medium-to-full-bodied, dense and amazingly vibrant, it balances its sweetness beautifully with fresh acidity. Luscious throughout the middle and lengthy on the back end, this 50-year-old Rieussec has a lot of tread left in its tires. Drink now-2035.

Magnum Collaboration at Claudia Restaurant (Chicago, IL): Out of magnum, bought 30 years ago, medium to dark and bright apricot color, great nose, smelled across the table, good weight on the palate with a very long finish. Delicious.

Into the shoulder, cork down as well.
Unfortunately past any form of drinking stage.
Should have been opened at 50 and it may have been OK.

WineCentric's 50+ Years Old Burgundies @ UC Davis (Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Sciences): Nice golden yellow color. Excellent nose with still a little bit of heat (B++). Creme caramel taste. Little bit sour. Long finish. (B++)
