Good overall quality. Open days before and succeeded to keep its energy. A little greenish/bitterness at the fin de bouche, surely an 87 characterictic

Pungent fruit on the nose. Surprisingly light on the palate. Not syrupy as some good ones I've had but just as enjoyable. Apple lychee pear notes. The body is light/medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long with medium acidity.

First half bottle from a case of 12. An intriguing vintage. Brassy colour, not as dark as you might fear, slightly spirity nose with cloves and Sevile orange, and similar on the palate. This is not ne of those rich, creamy sauternes, it's not viscous and has more of a cognac texture. But not oxidised, very alive, plenty of time left. More of an after-dinner drink by the fireside than a dessert wine.

In my limited experience with aged Sauternes, this will be the new standard. Layer upon layer of flavor, with peace and vanilla creme brulee followed by honey and a mild nutty finish that lasted 2 weeks.

(From 375ml) An excellent Rieussac drinking beautifully now. Great complexity and length -- honeysuckle and apricot.
