Fourrier theme lunch at Maison Dakota. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of sweet spice, friend said geranium flowers, red cherries, cool licorice. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), rounded medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe fleshy red cherries, black cherries, a lot of sweet spices, licorice, underlying cool dark minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. Good substance. Fleshy, but still needs more time to develop and show its complexity.

Four x Fourrier (Black Salt): Always a fan of this wine in the Fourrier lineup. You'd think it should taste like Chambolle based on where it is, but it doesn't. Oddly enough the taste doesn't seem to have much kinship with the Clos Vougeot either, but it tastes remarkably similar to the Echezeaux with its gravelly minerality. It doesn't have the breadth of either grand cru but it does have a sève that none of the negociant wines really featured today, which gives it a denser inner core and a more polished veneer of sweet, ripe fruit.

SLDS July 2015: Black cherry, liquorice, lifted florals and earth. Good palate weight with tannins to support. Decently full line and carry. Nice stuff!

Polished ruby. Mix of wild berries, herbs, cinnamon, mocha. Soft black, blue, red fruit. More light mocha on palate. Defines balance with fruit, acid, minerality. Exotic. Energetic.
Note: served blind. 3 hour decant. guessed Bonnes. will seek more.

Restrained, cool red fruits, with a linear, flavoursome palate. Clean, composed and complete. More age should deliver more complexity.
