Beautiful wine but it needed tons of air (4+ hours in a decanter) for the potent acidity to soften a bit. The fruit is bluish and gorgeous and the wine is very fine and silky and has a long way to go to reach maturity. Really classy wine that's best with food. 94+

This was opened and decanted to follow the 2007. Perhaps that wasn't a good idea. It started out a little too cold and came across as rather acidic and insufficiently open and mature. With more time and higher temperature it became better but it is still early days, and the 2007 is clearly better now.

Pergole Torte Vertical tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Zalto Universal and Burgundy Tasted blind. Clear, youthful deep ruby color. Fine, ethereal, herbaceous and a bit green nose. Very fresh and tight. High acidity, high, ripe tannin. Very phenolic, great structure and elegance. Still very compact and dense. Needs 5+ years to unfold. Will be great for sure. 94++

Hefty Sangiovese aromas with some oak. Elegant, pure and delicate, almost airy, with plenty of fine tannins. Needs more time.
