  • PnP (since I was afraid to decant). Will follow over 2-3 days until bottle is finished (while storing in fridge)
    Day 1:
Yay. A sound bottle with a sound cork
Initially, some reduction on the nose — rotten eggs. This blew off very quickly
    Pale tawny colour
Aromas of decayed leaves and spicy bramble fruits. A mushroom-inflected animal stink. And some ground coffee beans/cocoa notes
A medium bodied savoury palate, with a spicy finish and tart black cherry
Medium+ tannins that have been superbly integrated
    Juicy acidity
    Excellent to outstanding length
Initially impression is this wine, while delicious now, probably has another 5-10 years left in her
Reminds me of a very light bodied Bordeaux
I actually think this wine will continue to open up over coming days
    Day 2:
Same. A hint of dried blueberry on the nose
    Day 3:
Fruit has faded but the tertiary notes have remained, but not developed in complexity
Final judgement: drink anytime between now and next 5 years
Probably best to PnP into a carafe. No need for a long decant. There was no sediment in the bottle.

  • A warmer year, as in Burgundy, but for a cool region like Jura that's always a good thing. Ripe (by these standards), round. Brawny and with more apparent tannin than the others (10, 03, 95, 92). This is very pure and was the table's favorite.
