Dark and refined. Complex, savoury nose. Palate still firm and structured. Drink now or hold.
WSET Notes:
Pale garnet.
Pronounced on the nose with red cherry, raspberry, cedar, vanilla, leather, forest floor, savoury notes, meat, tobacco, mushroom, blackcurrant leaf, charred wood. Developing.
Pronounced and dty on the palate. Full body, medium alcohol, high acidity, high fine tannins, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

Alas, thought I would open something special for Mother's Day but this one just wasn't quite ready. Of course, the last glass was the best and starting to show of a truly magical Clos Vougeot, but based on this experience hold for at least another year if not two.

I like it, but I tend to like everything these days (the Zen approach to fine wine). But what a shame: a great wine from a great negociant, but it doesn't quite hit the mark. Was 2013 that bad for red burgundy? I don't know, but there is something missing here.
And yet even its "failure", there is an elegance here that should not go unrecorded.
I just wish that that I did not have pay so much for elegant failure.

Light body. A bit tight with not much fruit and weak into the finish. Nowhere near as good as Hudelot Noellat CdV of same vintage, which has richer strawberry notes and better overall balance and complexity.

Just a touch of tobacco on the nose. Light and tart on the palate but in a good way. Super refined and long.
