  The purple color is slightly fading, but still quite dark. The nose initially opened with smoky grilled meat scents with underlying blackberry, plum, and some hints of earthiness. As it opened in the decanter it progressed to candied black cherry and almost port like scents. Seemed slightly out of balance and awkward on the palate. Overall an interesting and enjoyable syrah.
