Better than 6 months ago. Now getting some of the meaty/smokey notes that were previously missing. A nice expression of the varietal from Washington State. Will look into some recent vintages as this was my last 2016. 4.3 stars

Beautiful color. Olives, plum, cherry, mineral & spice/pepper. Great purity, velvet mouthfeel and mineral tinged finish. You can smell and taste the terroir similar to Cote Rotie. Excellent value.

Massive weighted bottle- should match the quality inside- this does not. Typical with high pH, low acidity Syrahs this developed quite the nasty VA on it. Having worked at a winery for years, I'm sensitive to slightest VA as I could not pour nor sell a customer a defective or flawed wine. My friend finally agreed with me that this Syrah had that VA and needs to be poured out. The Gigondas we had next to this shined however.

Starting to taste the age. The green taste of 3 years ago has disappeared; fruit is more forward. Decent mouthfeel and length but lacking smoke/meat notes. Don't see much upside. Drink up. 4.1 stars

(K Vintners Syrah Motor City Kitty Oldfield-Boushey Vineyard) Hello friends. We have small parcels of a trio of rarities from the recent set of K Vintners releases. These offers are notorious for turning into feeding frenzies, and this one – our first of the year – promises to be extra cuckoo given the wines involved and the parcel sizes. I suspect we’ll have to under-allocate here, given the parcel sizes, so a quick reminder of our allocation technique: Our allocations generally favor breadth over depth, so that everyone gets one bottle before anyone gets two. And our formula for prioritizing allocations includes overall orders, frequency of orders, recency of orders, list tenure, and size of order request, among other factors. Now, onto the wines: Jeb Dunnuck: Copyrighted material withheld. This is only the fourth time we’ve been able to access MCK, generally regarded as one of the stronger values in the K Syrah lineup. Warning: past allocations of MCK have been *brutal*. We’re going to ask for max order requests of 4 bottles, but more likely allocations are 1-2 bottles, and I won’t be surprised if some folks are shut out entirely. Apologies if that’s the case. Entirely from Boushey Oldfield, it spent 47 days on skins, and was aged entirely in large-format French puncheons, 25% new. Listed alc is 14.5%. From Charles: Not shy to say, super expressive! Classic in approach which abounds with plum, black cherry, sandalwood, layered along with cured meat, white pepper and minerals. Voluminous, velvet and pure. Another milestone in the history that is M.C.K.
