I had the Cattle King last year and found it lackluster when comparing to other Syrah wines. This one I saw good reviews and thought I'd give Kvint another chance. At first I was worried because the nose was strong with Barnyard, Mint and Cough syrup and on the first taste it was super tight and not showing well at all. Gave it a good 3 hours in a decanter and it really helped. Dark purple and inky. Nose of blackberries and plum, barnyard and mint still but no longer as medicinal. On the palate it has a lot of dark fruits, blackberries, black cherry and plums, spice and herbs. Still funky and a tad high on the acidity. The long decant really helped smooth the mouthfeel. Overall a good experience in the end and the QPR is actually good.

3 hour decant; this is a big wine, as you'd expect from a young K Vintners Syrah. Lots of oak showing on the nose, but the alcohol is fairly well integrated. Blackberry pie, oak, espresso, and vanilla flavors are primary, with hints of mineral. While very approachable on day 1, this got really tannic on day 2 and was much less enjoyable. I'd probably hang on to this for another year or two before opening, or maybe hold off on the decant and drink on day 1? 2025-2035.

Similar to my tasting note from May last year. Thick, jammy, inky.

One of the best values in American Syrah vintage after vintage.
Savory. Long finish. Improves with decant.

Well... that was big. Never really came into it's own to show off the fruit that is probably hiding underneath the heft.
