Dried cherry on the nose with dry leaves, soil tones, and subtle and varied spice notes; surprisingly good for both the vintage and the vineyard. Front palate buoyed by the forest floor notes, the midpalate was somewhat hollowed by the receding fruit, with a classic and organic finish with earth tones.

Would not have guessed '93 based on the robust aromas of syrupy cherry and lacquered dark fruits. (Think '01 or '03 but not as intense as '05 red burg) Viscous mouthfeel with black cherry and stewing black and blue berries. Missing the damp soil / underbrush but giving up some menthol and tea leaves. Jammy and stewy and not what expected for '93 Charmes.
