  • Tasted over 4 hrs
-slightly murky nearly semi-translucent med dark red mild bricking
-expressively beautiful melange of funk Gevrey spice stewed tomato vegetal decaying leaf
-med/med+ acidity gives lift but no harshness, med/med- weight shows plenty of finesse yet not lacking in power sappy savory saline clean complex faded earthy cherry sousbois, gentle caressing med- tannins surprisingly not dried out at all, excellent length
-once again another '04 Jacky hit straight out of the park, as usual a bit warmer softer and more red-fruited than the Clos de la Roche, this is drinking so perfectly now though every time we open the last bottle of any particular Truchot wine it feels like saying good bye forever to a dear friend

  • What a treat to drink this wine! The nose is so deep and expressive, despite its youth, with beautiful, mature aromas of coffee, warm soil, roasted mushrooms, and just the faintest whiff of dried herbs. I probably sniffed this for a solid half hour before taking a sip; it was so compelling. Lithe and deliciously red-fruited on the palate, showing plenty of maturity and depth without sacrificing balance. Not a trace of green to be found here. The best 2004 Burg I’ve had by a country mile, and an exceptional wine in its own right.

  • Pnp. Floral on the nose with some green note, coffee beans, red currant and flowers. Palate was expressive and a bit thin. After one hour in the glass, it had evolved so much. More floral and open on the nose. The palate gained more weight and complexity. Truchot nailed it in this vintage. While DRC is also great in 04, Truchot is on another level. Very nice. 94+
