Silky, sweet intense red fruit that is quite plush and warm. There is prominent but unobtrusive oak. Some reduction. I felt this did well in the lineup; spiced and weighty, but with good aromatics too. I’ve been enjoying the change in style chez Grivot in recent years.

Primarily from the Les Cruots ou Vignes Blanches plot, arguably one of the best plots within the large Echezeaux Grand Cru. Darker and more garnet. Lifted aromatics as with many 2015s. More brambly, sweet candied fruit, complemented by immense minerality and some spice. More grip and structure, but with coolness and elegance. Drinking well now, this has quality to be fantastic with more age, and deservedly one of the wines of the vintage for @steenohman. Need to find more. Drank beside Louis Jadot Echezeaux 2010

Echezeaux: Was between 2015 and 2017 for the vintage because of the trace of alcohol and warm fruit, but also had a very appealing, light-footed elegance. Eventually guessed 2015 from a more feminine maker like J-M Millot. Attractive red fruit with a good backbone, most serious wine of the night. Unfortunately became a little too candied and ripe with air.

Tasted at Domaine with Etienne Grivot. Opened yesterday and left in cellar half full. Incredible nose, akin to a blackberry tart with fruit, spices even the pastry to an extent. Deep, concentrated fruits on palate. Ripe Blackberry, dark cherry showing sweetness. Lots of spices and complex darker woodsy notes. Long, intense and complex finish.

Jim brought this wine as a surprice for his BD lunch pairing with Japanese food. It expressed all elements of a Burgundy GC in aroma, palate, structure and after taste. Super!
