This is a Doctor Who wine. You really need to travel back in time to purchase this estate and move forward 50 years. Like the Mouton Rothschild and Léoville Las Cases there is no fast tracking this estate. That said, it is starting to push towards its apogee, and already is a very early memorable experience. Although dark and a little foreboding, in the glass there is bricking and the nose is deeply fruited with red cherry, strawberry and floral and mint notes although still youthful. Depth and balance on the palate and finish are worthy of a another couple of points, but 37 year old tannins are still refusing to yield. The Cabernet Franc was dominant over the Merlot in this vintage and it is very apparent. In spite of it all, you know you are drinking a very special wine with an almost perfect score looming and with my remaining bottle I will probably try to leave it until my last possible moment on this planet.

Another highly-disappointing magnum of this, not really showing much of anything other than smudged black fruit and a little mineral without clear cork taint or oxidation.

After a disappointing bottle on the heels of a stunning, this was a fine specimen. Supple, layered, fig and red fruit flavors, floral notes, licorice spice and herbs. Lets hope I can continue my streak of good bottles on the heels of relative disappointments.

A less developed bottle than others I have had. Still some work to do here, more time required. 94+

From magnum. Ton of lift, clean and pure. Tilting toward reddish fruit with age.
