Wow I m amazed at the craze here, people get really pumped when tasting that wine. Still I believe it really is 95/100 potential somewhere
I still believe the VCC 2014 and Figeac 2009, for their drinkability waer above Evry wine during our trip... still Le Pin and Lafleur had something absolute in their style
here is my take on a rainy, cold day at Lafleur on this 19
Nose is closed, needs lot of air, graphite, pencil shavings, pepper, spice and flowery melt here, complex and dense wine
palate is driven and sour... unique style, ripe and concentrated, long, large, black chocolate, like from a best cru from Africa or anywhere where the purity of Cocoa appears. It is a very meditative wine ! hope to taste one when ready !

My colleagues and I were finally able to organize a mini Lafleur vertical last night (an old dream that was very, very difficult to bring together) to redefine the odds against the fabulous 2022 vintage. Once again, we can't put 100 points everywhere.
Head and shoulders above the rest of the 2019s (incl. Cheval Blanc/Figeac/VCC/Eglise Clinet/Lafite/Montrose/Pichon L) at the J&B arrivage tasting in London. A Lafleur to die for: supple, deftly unweighted and full of fresh fruit. Wow.

4/2/2023 - Hugo Hilde Likes this wine:
An early take on some greats (Tøyen, Oslo): Double decanted 5 hours prior to dinner
When opened, the bottle gave immensely deep black fruits, savoury herbs, mushrooms and forest floor. Fantastic, so promising.
At dinner, not much remained, though I got a glimpse of deep blackberry, spicy barrel on the nose.
Palate felt very ripe, juicy, though with a LOT of tannins which are quite refined. Sweet coffee, very long fruit driven finish.
After an hour or so, this thightened up a lot, not very giving, also showing a slight heat.
The next day, the nose was much more open, giving blueberries, cherries, pine needles and orange rind.
This bottle was descening into shut down mode, should not be touched for at least 10 years, probably more like 20.
Extreme potential, impossible to score accurately tonight, though I have a feeling this could become something truly special.
