  • After the ultra-smooth 90, this is a clear step up in terms of dimension, liveliness and its regal structure, not unlike how these two vintages compare chez Haut Brion. Complete and alive. 97-98+

  • Perhaps, I am short-changing this wine, or at least this bottle, as it could deserve 100 Pts. This is simply majestic. The incredible wealth of cherries, plums, truffles, dried flowers, dried red pit fruits, thyme, and chocolate is almost overwhelming. The palate is intense, full-bodied, powerful, vibrant, and energetic, the fruits are perfect as is just about everything about this wine. Drink from 2023-2040.

  • Jason's belated Birthday: Initial taste right out of the bottle was quite strong. Then once we started this was served in the same flight as the Lafite. And Lafite was the first wine tasted so this got dwarfed in comparison.

It needed about 45 mins or so in the decanter to fully come out. The Cabernet Franc sneaks out with a strong finish which is more Merlot-dominated. Overall a great wine against very tough competition.

  • This had bizarre nose initially but much better one hour in. A very good wine in a really tough night against mighty competitions. 95 points. Single blind.

  • Nose: wet forest, pepper, mushrooms, ripe and mature black fruits, vegetal, smoke, hints of green apple, leather
Notes: Tasted in a Lafleur vertical of 88, 89, 90, 93, 94, 99. Started drinking after breathing in the bottle for 4 hours. Although this is not exactly the Lafleur aroma I was looking for and expecting but the 89 shows more vegetal and mature notes comparing to the other vintages. The 89 probably has the most complex and interesting nose but I feel the palate was somewhat a bit underwhelming comparing to the nose. I believe there's no need to wait further if you want to enjoy this bottle and you will probably not see much more improvement with aging.
