Joe’s Farewell Victory Tour before heading off to winter in the Florida wine desert. Incredible complexity, resolved, elegant and ethereal. Would have enjoyed just a bit more autumnal qualities and sous bois. 95+

What a treat! WOTN for me, wine of the year?!? It is hard to ignore the inherent grace and refinement on the nose here with higher-register notes of orange zest, iodine-like blood/game with subtle iron, smokey minerals that break way to clove, earl grey/tea spice with supple and delicate fine-grained pinot flavors that scream of autumnal undergrowth, wood scents and fine leather. Very rich, intricate and resolved. hate to use the word "ethereal" but it makes sense here. I can't think of a better resolved example than this wine in it's current stage of evolution and still so lively! 95+ A big Thank you to Joe!

Absolutely pristine bottle. In the glass, projects that exquisite translucent ruby color found only in center-cut Vosne-Romanee. Lacks the spice and depth of R-C, La Tache, La Romanee, but with equal purity, so it could only be La Grande Rue of a great year. No sign of fading; will hold easily for 10 years and could even <gasp> improve.

1999 DRC Horizontal. A nice aged wine with coffee notes. Nothing of the fireworks described by Jacques Seysses.
