  • This is so good. Classic Burgundy Volnay 1er Cru. Lots of bright red fruits, perfect acidity. Will be great for many more years.

  • Popped and poured. Nice dark though not completely opaque ruby color that actually left a stain on the glass. Lovely black cherry perfume. Slightly candied red fruit highlights. Fully mature in the mouth, but with plenty of residual fruit, plus soil/earth. Only lacking a bit of flesh at the end. 5-13-15-8: 91/100.

Next day: this did well in the bottle overnight, even picked up some fruit on the finish. I’d give the same score today.

  • Pulled the cork 90 minutes before dinner of Duck Confit. First pour a bit tart. New experience with this wine. Drank out of Grassl Cru glasses. Poured more wine to let it air. Red fruit dominates. Not quite Chambolle light but not heavy either. For sure 1er Cru depth and fullness. Not feminine or masculine. A tweener but very good. Nice acidity and mouthfeel. Very nice for the $80 price point.

  • Pulled the cork 90 minutes before dinner of Duck Confit & roasted potatoes in duck fat. No decant. Red fruits dominate. Very smooth & delicate. Lots of red fruit flavors with complexity for sure beyond a Villages wine. Nice flavor layers. Very good.

  • Upon opening this was very tight, a bit tannic and with very little fruit. I have followed this over 24+ hours, and it opened up slowly but not entirely it seems. This is a very serious wine in the sense that it makes you work to like it and to taste its intricacies. On the nose and palate I found intense dark cherry, forest floor, some spice. The wine is very structured, with high acidity, medium + tannins, and a long finish. In the end, this didn't win me over stylistically, but if this style of wine is your thing I reckon it is a good wine.
