Starting to really roll. Another 10 years and this will be awesome.
Slightly dark nose with hints of cocoa nibs. You can sense the dryness right away. Dark cherry and a bit of prune.
Pallate is graphite, crushed rocks, forest floor, and an almost chalky finish. Fruit is well balanced agains the tannins, which are on the sweet side. Dark cherry, a bit of cocoa, strong acidic backbone. This is going to last another 5-15 years, easy, as the tannins are not quite fully rounded. They should carry well. Medium body mouthfeel.
One critique is that it's a little hot, but that blows off in 30 minutes or so.
Annual Holiday CDP Tasting (Edina, MN): Dark red color. Splash decant; drank 1 glass over 2 hours. Looking back on my last notes from this wine, it seems to be following along slowly. I love the purity of the strawberry notes of the nose and palate, really lovely. Very primary fruit, though it strikes me as more red now than the last time I had it, good acidity, the tannins are already pretty sleek, youthful, but pretty integrated today. Fun to drink now, but another gem in the making. 92+ to 93pts
