A classic ZH style, roaring out of the glass, very upfront, intense, and therefore maybe lacking a little bit of finesse?? The palate is dense, thick, interesting, but a little bit hot (14% ABV) and slightly disjointed. Nothing wrong, but nothing to get me super thrilled either to be honest.

Emirates flight - upgrade to first. Light golden yellow, white fruit, some toast, following a 06 Dom Perignon I thought this had (too) plenty of oak on the palate, would hold for a few more years. 91+

Spicy, a little oily and full-bodied with a whiff of alcohol but not that it bothers. Pear, apple, minerals with a hint of citrus rind bitterness in the finish. The amount of RS here is relatively low (7g, which is even lower than the '13 for reference), which makes the taste of honey and honeydew quite modest even though they're still there lingering.

Quite rich with heady nose of dried pollen and honey. Lovely floral quality with some ripe peaches and a touch of bitterness, but marred by the heat of the alcohol. I do think this will settle down and there is certainly the acidity to support everything, but lacking a certain freshness right now.

At Bibendum: Spicy oaky on the nose, smells rich, but more restrained on palate. Dry. Tight, but fine.
