Deep orange color. Viscous with some residual sweetness. Caramel flavors with some nutmeg and Indian spices. Decent acidity. A bit short on the finish.

The Rotating Dinners, I.8: Alsace (Chicago, IL): Next to the 1995 Pinot Gris, I much preferred this wine. This had a light, sherried mushroom quality on the nose that was alluring. More floral, lighter, and elegant, I also perceived this to be a little less ripe, which in mind is a good thing. The finish showed slightly almondy and bitter.

Mostly Rieslings: Golden orange color. This well-aged pinot gris is showing lots of complexity, but it's not over the hill yet. Waxy on the nose, along with dried apricot, yellow apple peel and honey crystals. Dry on the palate, full of wax, apricot and a rich orange flavor that reminds me of Grand Marnier. I'd like this more if there was a little more acid, but it's still a very pretty wine.

Mellow but still quite full and rich. More sweetness than acidity. Brilliant for a 30 yr old white!

Sweet and tropical. Strong lychee aromas. Some candied ginger. Somewhat bloated, and I didn't love the taste profile.
