At Boston Wine & Poker, Needham, Mass.: Tasted blind. This was paired with the Bouchard Beaune du Chateau from the same vintage. I preferred this one -- a very similar wine, same clarity, same touch of smokiness, same tannic edge, but this one had more pronounced fruit. A lovely wine, and possibly my favorite from a very strong lineup.

Gorgeous stuff. Sappy and energetic with abundant cherry, sandalwood and herbs on the nose, and red currant, persimmon and baking spice on the palate. Finishes a bit chewy, but with a floral flourish. In a great place right now but should hold for another decade or more.

From a Magnum. Beautiful and at its peak, to last at this plateau for another 5~6 years easily. Gorgeous red/violet color, and on the nose this bottle displayed splendid freshness of well matured red fruits, which contained all its vivid energy as if it had somehow kept the memory of beautiful 2005 vintage and all the sun, the nature and smiles had been bottled along. The superb nose was translating onto the palate with great details the roses, red cherries, gray pepper(slightly) a glimpse of wet earth, barely surfacing. All these were playing/mingling effortlessly on the palate and with each sip it had just enough difference to keep going back at the bottle. So beautifully alive, vivid, so detailed, and so fresh it was that it actually prevented us drinking too fast, but rather made appreciate every sip and with each one of them being lifted up with joy. As good Beaune 1er cru as one could taste. Cheers,

Fairly dark in color there's a sweet perfume note on the nose, initially darker, somewhat rustic fruit, but with air turns higher toned, more strawberry, some sweetness on the finish, fine but present tannins, good overall balance.
