Seems to be in a somewhat muted state - my previous bottle was definitely better. I would not guess Carignan if tasted it blind, does not resemble to French or Spanish versions. Oak-driven, Bordeaux inspired style. Bitterness, oak, licorice on the nose, and some tobacco and leather as signs of a developing wine. Powerful, extracted palate, it's quite structured. A bit old school and heavy, with some heat on the finish, yet it still has some charm. Hold.

Made with 100% bush-grown Carignan, ungrafted vines near the coast of lower Sulcis, aged in 1st and 2nd passage French oak for 10-12 months, 14.5% ABV. Impressively pure, energetic and youthful. Ripe cherry fruit, salty minerality, spicy oak, a tightly wound structure with finely grained but firm tannins, hint of back-end heat, good to very good length. Much more grip and future than the 2011 tasted in 2014. Drink 2020-2030.
