2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Event (Minneapolis, MN): Forman note 2. So, this wine was my second favorite Cabernet of the event and showing great. Cherry, rose petals, blueberries, mild oak, earth and stone. Super concentrated and medium plus finish. Amazing effort.
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Event (Minneapolis, MN): Forman note 1. Interesting this one was from Total Wine and got a few hours of air time. This wine was so different than the other Forman that was a pop and pour from Haskell's. Eucalyptuses overload. Floral, buttery oak and some earth. Just not a very good wine but not flawed in any way so just scoring it as it appeared.

This is good, but is typical of many wines now: Over-ripe and alcoholic (14.8%.) Opened and allowed air for one hour before drinking. Served with grilled rib-eye.
The jammy ripeness is appealing now, but the stewed fruit components do not bode well for aging. In time, the alcohol is going to win over the fruit, as there is little structure underneath. I miss the beautiful structure of the Forman wines of the 90's!
Day 2 (after gassing): True to original post, as the jammy fruit has lost some freshness, with a prune-like character taking over.
