Lovely wine. Hard to peg this as Napa. Would rival some of the top St. Julien Bordeaux 2nd Growths. Still has some very good concentration and hasn't aged much. Very aromatic, powerful aromas of tobacco, forest floor, earthiness, lead pencil, dark berries. Very powerful but very well balanced! Superb!
97 Napa-retrospective (Restaurant Bottles, Sas van Gent): Lovely, comfortable sense of rusticity in this wine, campfire, leather boots, dung, dried herbs, roasted meat. Besides that the core is still rich and fruity, cherry-like. Quite bordeaux-like. I really liked its slightly rugged character.
Beautiful bouquet with red and dark berries, flowers and sweet spices. On the palate full bodied with soft red berry fruits, flowers, beautiful fresh acidity in good balance with some pleasant sweetness. Perfectly soft tannin which still shows youthful. Great wine! No hurry at all.
