09|07|06|02|01|96|90 vertical. Absolutely delightful and at peak with plump, ripe, fresh red berry and black cherry fruit that is laced with meat and meat spice throughout. Just what you hope/want/expect in Rouseeau CSJ from this vintage.

Confusing nose that looks more like a Bordeaux than a Burgundy: tea, undergrowth and menthol dominate
On the other hand, on the palate, we have a well-born Pinot. First there is the touch, magnificent, textured, the wine is grainy but silky at the same time. The juice is deep and concentrated. The power of Gevrey is transformed into elegance, masculine but full of nuance. Aromas of undergrowth, black fruits, cinnamon and sweet spices that blend harmoniously in layers. Masterful balance that opens the way to a spicy and vibrant finish on a magnificent length.
Great pinot, great emotion.

THAT Rousseau night (IT Shanghai): The tightest of all the Rousseaus, we left this as the last bottle. A lot darker fruited in profile but relatability CSJ. Black tea, forest floor, iron, black berries to the fore with power and exuberance on the palate. Great concentration and depth. Truly, the top producers have this ability to seamlessly integrate elegance and power. Multilayered with great structure together with absolute masculinity and beasty vibes. Fantastic length and incredibly youthful at this stage with grainy tannins. Would be such a beast in 10 years!

(Rousseau Armand Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.Jacques) Medium, medium-plus cherry-red. High toned, red and black cherry nose plus a little earthy undercurrent against a creamy oak background. Balanced, fresh and elegant with real intensity. Lovely silky palate. The finish is long with that creamy oak thing still apparent. Very lovely wine - and I mean very!
(Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques") This is one of the worlds great wines. It has such a unique character. Floral, gamey, leathery. Ethereal aromas. Some oak, spice but all in such a perfectly detailed presentation. Prodigious concentration and ripeness. Sappy, dense, with great structure and a 45 second finish. Stunning purity. Sick!

Rousseau Clos St Jacques and Corton-Charlemagne Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): In vertical. Black and red berries start to finish, mostly fresh while faintly maturing. Roasted meat and meaty spice in support. Grand Cru density. Seamless textures. Better now than ever before.
