  This is a wow wine that has the levels of concentration, ripeness, Purity and balance that are off the charts. Words fail to describe how good this wine is plus I only had one glass, so let me just tell you that there is everything here that should be and nothing that shouldn’t: Black Forest fruit, earth, cherry liqueur, chocolate, purple flowers, lavender, juniper and some super delicate hints of new oak (not like Mongeard-Mugneret).
  Basically I believe this is a 100 pointer, it just needs time.
  Pure Class, probably my wine of the year.

  Rich chocolate, Black Forest gateau from the start but with a cleanness and balance that few wines possess. Stunning. Simply a class wine and one to taste in a few years time when the puppy fat fades away. I suspect this is close to as good as is gets but not there yet. In short, yum and a definite buy

  Since my last tasting note, I have acquired a few more bottles but I can’t help but notice by the increase in the cost of this wine that others may have spotted how good this wine is. Anyway, I decided to try another bottle which I clearly shouldn’t have but to make matters worse I tasted it with three other wines namely Jadot Beze 05 and 06 and Chanson Beze 2012. Now it is hard to say a bad word about any of these wines as they are all a joy to drink. Interestingly I hadn’t intended to open the DL 16 but amongst friends I thought we ‘d just see if the DL was up to scratch. There is no denying it is still a dumb baby but goodness me it is a lovely wine. How good? I think in time this may be one of the best burgundies I have ever tasted. The 05 Beze is simply standard setting (and is a little more balanced and complete that the excellent 06). The chanson 12 is a very classy wine. If I was asked what I would drink again today - Chanson????? . Best wine in time - DL!!! With all that said, I wouldn’t throw any of these out of my glass👍

  Un peu de Bourgogne (+ a Nebbiolo pirate) (Tøyen, Oslo): Double decanted 4h prior to dinner.
  
  The nose was not very accessible for me on this night. The first two hours it felt very understated, dark, but shy. Later on this night, blackberries, crushed rock, sweet strawberries, wood and juniper emerged. The others around the table really loved this, I guess I wasnt fully on its wavelenght on this night.
  
  The palate was medium bodied. Fruity and also minerality. Long understated and dry finish.
  
  This wine kept growing through the night, becoming more interesting to me as well. It just did not bring the intensity I was expecting, also the MG Ruchottes was a tough act to follow..
  
  91 points the first time around, 94 at the end of dinner.

  Medium ruby colored. Lots of dark and red berries in the nose. On the palate powerful cherry notes, overripe raspberries, soft spicy and mineral notes. Medium (+) bodied with a medium acidity. Rich fruit driven structure. Lacking a bit in finesse in the moment. Silky tannins, not fully integrated yet. Amazing complexity and depth. Long finish with lots of dark cherry notes.
  A powerful Grand Cru which needs more time to evolve and soften out. Potential 95+. Start drinking from 2026 onwards. (IG)
