  • Closed on opening, initially mistook this as the wine being faded but it blossomed in the glass over 30-60mins, truly impressive.
Acidity well-softened so the fruit took on with raspberry cordial, ripe cherry and cola notes. I've seen cola as a tasting description before but this is a first time I've ever tasted it in a wine before, and once identified it was so obviously cola.
One of the best Pinots of my life. Would not have thought an Aussie Pinot, and one under cork, had 20yrs in it, so this was something of a revelation.

  • Bindi Tasting 2004 (Brisbane): Red purple. Ripe raspberry and plum on nose. Much more alive than the '96 and more alcohol. Warmer vintage? Lovely balanced Pinot with impressive depth and length.

  • Tasted blind at McCarthy & Schiering. I successfully guessed Pinot after a few sniffs, but from there I was clueless. A nose of bright cherry with some gravel and emerging meatiness and stink with air. On the palate this has juicy, bright acid, with candied strawberry. This is a fresh, interesting Pinot but nothing that moves the earth for me.
