ugh, lot of vintage variation with this wine, as you might expect in a marginal cool-climate region. coarse tannins, far too herbaceous and overall a pretty dull wine. Not a patch on the 2015 version of this.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): "Served Blind. Slightly volatile red hued fruit, touch of herbaceous underpin gives a bit of a whole bunch impression. On the palate it's quite odd - alcohol heat, grippy tannins but sour red fruits…not for me. This is a (poorly made) Victorian Pinot Noir, probably from Yarra, probably about 5 years old"

Sampled a 375ml to see how the wine is developing. Consumed over an hour with minimal decant.
It's really good. Deep and rich colour, nicely perfumed nose, a really strong mid-palate with flashes of red/blue fruit and a long, slightly gamey finish.
All in all a complex wine that is very enjoyable to drink now, but given the 1/2 bottle I think this wine will improve significantly in the medium term.

One of my favourite wineries . Beautiful Pinot. Gave it 30min in the decant. Cherries, earthy, oak and beautiful tannins. Still a bit young and it will get better overtime.
