  • The 2005 vintage is finally coming around and showing something other than dense inaccessibility with the Caillerets showing cherry and fresh-cut florals tonight. Certainly still well structured but open and aromatic. Want for more acidity.

  • typical 2005, a little bit bulky for me, and still needs about ten years more age... all my 2005's feel like they could benefit from that time in bottle... I like my wines lighter / acidic / more elegant... I"m thinking these wines will maybe hit the target on the third element (elegance), but will never be light on their feet (maybe, but will take a couple decades... anyway, this was a very enjoyable wine to me nonetheless... better with air (I gave it only about an hour before starting to drink, bold with dark side fruit, a tiny bit of smoke, good spice and a pungent nose

  • Boom. I have been slowly trying 05 Burgs and they are open for business. This one was as well. Still a baby this was showing very nicely. The nose is intoxicating. Just classic Burgundy red fruit, spice, some blue fruits. Right now this wine is on the bigger side as its got a lot of fruit but the balance is impeccable. A very harmonious wine. Rich flavors coat the palate. Only got better over 2 hours at dinner.

  • From memory: Medium garnet colour. Spicy red fruit, floral perfume, dry soil and oak on the nose and palate. Lifted, good concentration and firm grip. Just entering its drinking window, and though perfectly serviceable, it lacks the illusive “wow factor” one would expect a wine like this to possess – there’s just not enough complexity and sleek sophistication. Enjoyable, but currently too rustic to defend the stiff price tag. Will hopefully improve over the next three to four years – decant or hold (91-94 points).
