Past its best and undrinkable, disappointing as it was stored well from purchase. Another bottle purchased at the same time and given away as a gift was also reported to be on its way out when opened so could be an issue with transport to Australia.

Surprised to see synthetic cork as a closure, but the wine has long gone ... disappointed no doubt, I have a believe in Alsatian Riesling that can keep that long even in basic levels as this one, but sometimes obviously can not...

Amazingly vibrant after ten years. The nose is clean, with white peach, pear, citrus, tropical fruit and a hint of petrol. The palate is dry yet there's a touch of sweet fruit to balance out the pronounced acidity. At first the flavors are consistent with the nose, but then a crisp lemon-lime develops through the long, mouth-watering finish. Lithe and medium-bodied at 12.5%, this is an excellent food wine. This really piques my interest for other aged Rieslings.

This Riesling offers an unusual scent of pine needle mixed lightly with pineapple. Lots of mineral. Lemon and lime flavor lingering for a long time after the taste. If there is a wine that has “cat pee” smell this is it. High in acidity and yet it is well drinkable without food. A very long finish…The taste of lemon and lime develops 20 seconds later and it just does not go away. A very delicate finish…I am also getting a green apple with lime aftertaste… This was my first dry Alsace Riesling that I truly paid attention too as this will be the very first wine on my journey to complete Kevin’s Zraly’s “Windows on the World” Wine course. It will be a long journey, but I am sure will be well worth it…
