The last time I had this was 2012. Tonight, paired with an 00 Cavalotto Bricco Boschis San Giuseppe riserva (modern vs traditional), and grilled hanger steaks, it was awesome. Very lovely, polished, cleanly made modern baroli. Yes, the wood was apparent, esp compared to the Cavalotto, but it was not intrusive or overbearing. Clean dark fruits, saddle leather, and dried herbs. Sexy stuff. This has aged perfectly and is clearly in the zone now. Two more bottles of this I am really looking forward to.

Overpriced by at least 25%, this wine is very nice but falls short of expectations given the lofty reviews & price tag. Wild strawberries, dark plums and tertiary flavors of balsamic with old-world spices were the best part of this wine. And the tannins were classic Barolo; long and persistent.

Lovely wine. Fruit began to fade at around one hour.
Drink up.

Feels past it’s prime. Still has some fruit left and dose much better with some food. Drink now
