Great acidity, plenty of green bell pepper on the nose, red fruit, surprisingly firm tannins. A little grippy right now (at least without food), but a great candidate for the cellar & superb for the price.

Bonnaventure - named after the owning family - is a Cabernet Franc that comes from a site directly behind the winery. The vines stand on a south-facing plateau of 2.8 hectares with yellow tufa and gray sand in the topsoil. The Cabernet is vinified in cuves of 60 hectoliters.
Color: Cherry red
Nose: Bonnaventure smells very fresh, it is clear and just firm as well as crisp with notes of sour cherries and flint. With air it becomes a bit fuller, offering blackberries and some bresaola, further juniper and a touch of underbrush.
Palate: On the palate, this is as round and full-bodied as it is intensely silky and lively Chinon, with notes of crisp ripe red berries, of blood orange and spice, and of cool and lightly cured meats. The tannins are pleasantly present and firm, while being ripe and juicy. Overall, this is a clearly structured Cabernet Franc with lively acidity and pleasing finesse.

Perhaps in a "dumb" phase, but tannins hide the fruit. Big, highly extracted wine that reminds me of a young right bank Bordeaux. Good acidity. Nice finish. Addendum: Better on day 2.

Nice high acid. Lots of texture and structure, dark fruit and a bit of...grape! Good body. A bit on the young side, but drinking fine.
