A 65th Birthday Celebration (Schur House - Riverwoods IL): Small glass. While not exactly my style, this is opulent and fleshy but with some proper degree of structural proportion, so I was able to find some enjoyment here, as opposed to the Carlisle Vineyard wine from the same vintage just tasted.

Tobacco nose, some spice, and little bit fresh cut flowers and/or other perfume.
Layered red fruit in the mouth and crisp acidity with a creamy/velvety texture. Waves of red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and subtle cranberry are accented by a little pepper spice and flecked herbs. The fruit is perfectly ripe, doesn't feel too sweet or cloying. Finish is long and smooth, tannin is mostly integrated. Great zin, one the of best in a while and from Carlisle too. It is now in the zone and should drink great through at least 2027.

Opened, poured and let sit about 40 min. Then: Not much on the nose, maybe reddish fruit. Taste is cool reddish fruit; kind of juicy, berryish, not too ripe, extracted or raisony; minimal, if any, spiciness - and that' OK, it lets the berryish fruit shine (although that berryish fruit is fairly low intensity). Tannins and acidity not an issue. This begins to get closer to what I like in a zin. Quite different from my 9/16/23 bottle.
