This needs time for the body to soften but actually drinks decent now. Ripe raspberry, dried cherry/cranberry, mint, sage, leather and dusty/dried earth. Like all Massolino it’s high acid but this one has depth and ripeness to drink young.

This is a good wine in what is proving to be an ok-not-great vintage. Color out of the bottle is medium purple-brick red with no signs of bricking yet. The nose was good as well, with an immediate hit of raspberries, strawberries and some light cinnamon. But the palate packs a punch with super gripping tannins, owing to the large botti in which this is aged. Almost no secondary elements on the nose at this point. The tannins go well with the nuance of the initial nose and leads me to believe it will evolve quite well in the next, say, 10 years or so. Super reputable producer, this will cellar week for 10+ years but I think the true drinking window starts in about 4yrs or so.

Festa del Piemonte: Master Class & Lunch (The Pool/Grill): One of the producers that I feel like we've found fairly recently and yet I find that I am almost always really enjoying the wines they make. Clean and fresh in style and yet it has that boldness that you get from Serralunga. Classic. Needs more time but it is still enjoyable now. Will continue to seek out.

Opened up fresh. Floral on the nose, some spice, anise. Once palate settled it got a bit warm. Some prune. Nose maintained the freshness.

Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): Very light and fresh and bright. Almost a bit more potpourri. Lots of flower petals. It is right on the edge of hand soap but while others fullly cross that border, this does not.
