A great wine from the early days of Clos Du Val and Bernard Portet. Still holding up very well with plenty of fruit in the bottle. I had a 1994 CDV cab the week before, but I gave the 93 a point higher rating. A wonderfully balanced wine with outstanding flavors made it a hit with my wine group.

My brother picked this up at the Napa tasting room recently and threw it into a double-blind lineup. This looked like it had a good deal of age. It also tasted old and tired, with kind of a sweet-ish oxidative note. Clearly well past prime. Thinking that nobody brought anything older than the 2002 Beresan Stone River (Cabernet-Syrah blend that I contributed to the tasting), that was what I guessed this was. I know 1993 was not a great vintage in Napa, but this just was not enjoyable at all at this stage, assuming this is a representative bottle.
