Probably the best Gazin in some time and certainly one of the better-showing on release. This is saturated with sweet black cherry and raspberry fruit with plenty of youthful gloss despite the abundant tannin. Those tannins start out muscular and ripping but with a little bit of time take on a combed, refined texture.

After a short hiatus from wine, was eager to sample a small flight tonight from the 2020 Bordeaux Release. The wines included: La Clarté de Haut-Brion, D’Issan, Meyney and Gazin. By far the most interesting, complex and potential was Gazin.
On the nose it opened up with licorice, spicy notes of medium red berries. Upon a second pour, oak and vanilla began to rise to the forefront. On the palette, it was built with fine tannins and a pleasant long finish. Soft and plush for such a young wine. If I did not own this 2020 Château Gazin, I would buy it on the spot. It displayed its early potential. With age this will be wonderful adding complexity. 92 tonight. It will easily hit mid 90s when it’s mature. Very well made with quality.

Violets and roses are in full bloom here before getting to all of its beautiful, ripe, lush, silky, vibrant cherries, red plums, cocoa and truffle. Medium-bodied, elegant, silky and vibrant, there is good energy, length and refinement in the mid-palate that carries all the way through to the finish. Drink from 2025-2047.

UGCB tasting Bordeaux 2020 Walkaround tasting so in general just short notes (Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.): Firm and full bodied wine with a lot of dark berries, good acidity and round, very sticky tannin. Very beautiful wine which needs some serious ageing. Try around 2032 - 2035. 94 - 95+

The 2020 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 03/06/2023 (Amsterdam): A bit severe bouquet, good structure in the midtaste, not very inviting at the moment, but, for me, the potential for further development.
