Still awfully young. These Patelin rouge offerings often need a few years to settle down. The Grenache dominates now, making this a one-note offering today. Drinks more like a young Beaujolais right now. Let ‘er settle until mid-2024. Then I’ll give the screw cap another pull. Drink 2024 to 2028.

Tablas Creek features Rhone style wines, often rather pricey ones, so it was nice to see one that was reasonably priced. It is a modest wine with a lovely ruby color and a fruit forward flavor with sweet red cherries as the major component. It is lacking in depth or complexity. It has a light body but a slightly bitter finish. An okay wine for everyday use.

light edge, sweet cherry aroma and tastes fresh with mild pepper, herbal and some acidity

A little thin but earthy with food friendly acidity. It’s a darn good domestic imitation of a Cotes du Rhône.

Yeah, this thing is totally smoked out. On the nose and on the palate. And kinda harsh and bitter on the back end as well.
