Lime, Parmesan rind, and pebbley minerality on the nose. Hyper floral on the palette, almost like cosmetics or incense. This tamed after a while and actually became more balanced and actually delicious. I think the initial unbalanced nature of my tasting were nothing to do with the wine, but because this bottle followed the 1998 Chateau L’Evangile, and maybe my palette took some adjusting.

Decanted for two hours. Pale straw in the glass. Aromas of lime zest, a feint touch of petroleum, and under ripe peach and nectarine. Spring water fresh, off dry in style, with a hint of phenolic bitterness.

TWS Group German Tasting (Must & Lees): Peach, mango, ripe red apple and pear. A touch sweaty - is that the hot vintage? Concentrated on the palate - quince and leafy raspberry - it's quite tight and constrained now, needs time to relax.

Germany (Must and Lees, N1): Very pale. Only mildly sweet, less than expected. Young, dynamic and vibrant, and altogther pretty pleasant with ripe pear and the florality of pineapple broom or frangipani. Easily in a drinking window but clearly will keep for ages.

Minimal acidity, light body and very drinkable. Aromas of pear and quince. Some citrus notes, lemon curd, on the palate. Syrupy.
