Académie des Cinquante 60th Annual Dinner (Restaurant De Echoput, Hoog Soeren, Netherlands): Mature but lively appearance, pale red; transparent style, lovely sweet fruit, rose petals, silky, elegant, harmonious, retains some tannic grip, vibrant and beautifully balanced, delicate, creamy, complete, subtle and layered, perfectly integrated alcohol, excellent length. A superior 1965, remarkably fresh and youthful. Seems even better than in 2008.

This is a vintage you doesn't see often. Typically Fonseca, elegant, dry, but persistant; missing a bit the stuff the '68 had. The colour was very light, the nose clean and raisiny, good and elegant midtaste and at the end the alcohol was peeping through, but overall a remarkable old and stylish Port.

Has aged beautifully, powerful and lively, lovely fig flavours, off-dry, crystallised fruit, wood, well-balanced, elegant tannins; lovely length, a bit hot.
