  • Method: tasted at the domaine

Nose: fruit (stone fruit / apricot), beguiling earthy/savory hint that I can't quite place (maybe saffron?), oyster, mineral, salt

Palate: bees wax; long finish of white pepper, mineral, peach skin; dry; medium+ round body; high- acidity

Overall thoughts: So intellectual and complex, especially on the nose. The palate was a more reticent, but the finish was great -- long and complex. I wish I received more than a tiny pour and had more time to spend with this wine. Great body, acidity, and precision. This is showing young right now, but it seems very age worthy and I cannot wait to see how this shows when mature. Great wine.

  • This is a total wow. So much going on - ripe yellow peach, marzipan, ripe pear. Hugely lifted perfume. There are pronounced caramel and butterscoth notes here already. Full bodied. Incredibly long finish and complex. Drinking beautifully now, will endure for a few years. The caramel and complexity will increase with time.

  • Layered and ever changing wine. Showing som tell tale exotic fruit, plenty of mineral feel, good acidity with a citrus note running thorugh. Hints of smoke and butter, this gains in the glass. I woud opt to keep it at least 2-3 years before trying.

  • Domaine Georges Vernay’s three Condrieu, are unique in the world of wines.. Made from tiny yields on incredibly steep granite terraces, some the most challenging farming areas.

A 100% Viognier 🍇 from Northern Côtes du Rhône, this is a historic hillside, the heart of the appellation and the estate, offers one of the finest expressions of the complexity and subtlety of Viognier.

In the first years, one feels a great concentration, a contained power that dares not reveal itself. Only the long years spent in the cellar will allow it to give the best of itself and reveal it as the Montrachet of Condrieu!

Ripe peach and honey, stunning minerality and a 40-50 sec finish too.

The focus of Domaine Georges Vernay is in its authenticity which comes in the form of old vines, low yields and the mantra of ‘minimal intervention’.

It's winemaker Christine Vernay’s received the “Wine Person of the Year 2012” award from the two leading French wine critics, Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve.

In their new guide, 2012 Le Grand Guide des Vins de France, Vernay was elevated to the top “5 Star” rating. Vernay joins a clique of only 30 French Estates - that includes DRC, Yquem and Latour..

Thank you brother @iampatt0 for this treat.. and wait till we see what he brought for his 2nd later that evening! Bottle 2 of... 9 over four hours of fine dining.

Eat and Cook degustation menu with innovative modern Malaysian cuisine, joined by Omar, Patt0, Eng, LMC and WMK too.. a night of special wines.

  • NR

DVR fair, this a 100 E Condrieu, and here is why

Nose is fresh and delicate, with pear, light oak and vanilla spice and ginger

The palate is fresh and shows great acidity and a mineralogy never so far found in any other whites around ! great effort !

92/93 considering it is Viognier but it is a long and complex wine, able to age very well !
