  • Dark Purple color. Fragrant nose of bright red fruits (cherry, cranberry) accompanied by some funk, earthiness, and hints of floral. Palate is a bright juicy pop of cherry and cranberry with some floral, funk, and earthiness in the mid palate. Medium body which complements the fruit. Medium tannins, medium acidity, and an exceptionally long finish. Absolutely delicious.

  • Deep, dark reddish-purple in color, almost opaque. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & strawberries with overtones of violets & earthy/dusty notes, spices, herbs & minerals. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush, ripe fruit flavors of pomegranate, blueberries & cranberries with spices, herbs & minerals. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with good potential for further development with several years of additional aging. An absolutely wonderful Beaujolais!

  • really quite excellent, juicy, almost fruit punchy in terms of flavor (in the best sense) without a rough edge, ebullient and alive. The accolades from the merchants are astounding - the OG, a "grand wine", "gloriously announced", "meant to be devoured". My first encounter and I see the hype. Next task is to taste to blind, side by side with the Cuvee S.

  • The original sans soufre. How many bottled farts have we all sat through at trendy "natty" tastings because of this wine? As much I wanted to dislike it, it's true - M. Lapierre produced an irresistable wine with nothing added; and his heirs continue to do so today. It's just too bad so many others attempted - and struggled with - the "zero zero" concept.

Tart red cherries, raspberry sorbert, graphite, dirt/earth, wet stone and a bit of poop on the nose, which thankfully blew off after 30 minutes. After that's gone, the nose shows a nice 50/50 split between fruit and non-fruit aromas. The palate, on the other hand is totally clean. It starts with ripe red cherries, then shows ripe strawberries, bananas, cheese rind, fresh chopped Italian parsley, graphite and limestone. Bright and vibrant, with a medium + intensity of flavors that ratchets up to high after an hour in the glass.

Medium body with medium acid and medium prickly tannin. I believe this could age 2 or so more years; but given that it's sans soufre I woudn't hold it longer than that. It's delicious right now, especially with two hours of air. An absolute joy to drink. Is the reason it's so good really due to the lack of sulfur? Does it even matter?

In 30 years, Domaine Lapierre will still be huge. It's the "zero zero fanboys" who will be small.
