Rockss and Fruit

  • By Lyle Fass

(George Lignier Clos St. Denis) This had an incredible nose of nuts, cinnamon, cardamon, clove and nutmeg. Also and exotic hint of soy, bbq sauce and orange rind. A great old Burg nose. The palate had lush fruit and an intriguing nuttiness but was a little hard and astringent with some unresolved tannin. I learned you needed to have patience with this wine as by the end of the night the finish was kicking and the aforementioned tannin was fully integrated. This wine had such a pure and unique midpalate with gobs of spice. Liquid incense on that midpalate.
