Mature Burgundy @ Medlar (Upstairs) (The Medlar, London): Again, a slightly surely 76 character and a slightly high-toned edge. Bright red fruit but again a little edgy. Open and quite smokey and smooths with air. A good showing in the flight. ***

Birthday Bash with Pig (Chicagoland): From 3L. Amber color. Dusty old fruits. All sous bois - rustic and acidic. Not especially tannic for '76. OK, but firmly in the "would have been better a few years ago" camp.

The Greatest Pig Roast Ever?? (Chicagoland): From 3L Bottle. Cranberry, earth/ herbal notes on the nose. Very high acidity. Not enjoyable at all on the palate. Past its prime.

(George Lignier Clos St. Denis) This had an incredible nose of nuts, cinnamon, cardamon, clove and nutmeg. Also and exotic hint of soy, bbq sauce and orange rind. A great old Burg nose. The palate had lush fruit and an intriguing nuttiness but was a little hard and astringent with some unresolved tannin. I learned you needed to have patience with this wine as by the end of the night the finish was kicking and the aforementioned tannin was fully integrated. This wine had such a pure and unique midpalate with gobs of spice. Liquid incense on that midpalate.
