Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • The initial whiff after being poured straight from bottle is that of red jelly crystals once they’ve been hit by boiling water. With air there are other sweet perfumes and a savoury note of root vegetables. It is fine, earthy and quite precise in the mouth, if not terribly generous or long. Utterly delicious and proof that there are some gems to be had from this much maligned vintage.

  • This showed about as I expected it would. At 15 years old it is probably 5-7 years past its prime and the acidity is now winning the battle with the fading fruit. Still, for those(like me) who love the aromas of mature burgundy, this is a fun wine to drink. Not at all long or complex but still satisfying if served with the right food. Actually improved with a couple hours of air.
