Popina Dinner with DJCV: Very tightly wound with the liberal oak treatment being the dominant characteristic both aromatically and on the palate. Gives nothing of the terroir at this stage. Hold for many more years.

Remarkably open and elegant for the vintage. Shows clear Burgundy flavors and structure which is a plus in 2018 where I find several burgundies tasting like warm climate pinots with too high alcohol levels, too high tannin levels and too sweet fruit.
It has darker fruits in nose than more classical vintages, but think more black and blueberries with fine hints of mocca from the toasted oak but in no way dominant rarther well integrated.
A bit tannins in the mouth and touch of a “chalky” flavor and mineralty which top chambolle can produce.
This wine will keep developing and has a large potential over the next 10-15 years or maybe even more.

SLDS October 2021: Good lift, black cherry, spice, red berries and smoke. Smoky and savoury palate, with some floral notes coming through. Beautifully balanced, good flavour persistence and depth. Excellent showing.

Ripe berry and cherry fruits, violets and cherry stone. It is rich, creamy and deep, with something cool just below the flesh. There's excellent intensity and whilst it is too young, it offers plenty of enjoyment as a youngster.

Man this is going to be a great wine. I wanted to check in on it to see how the 18 vintage is playing out in the glass, especially given all the talk about the heat of the vintage. I must say the wine makers who have been pretty bullish (Aubert dV, Christophe, Jeremy) are right: in the right hands these wines are delicious. There is definitely a lot of muscle in this Village but the alcohol is not overdone and the fruit is glorious. This will evolve into a wonderful wine.
