I've been blessed by a few bottles of this vintage of the Baby Jesus over the years and this may have been the best yet. Hauntingly pretty aromatics and a beautiful, mostly resolved palate. Perfumed and spiced on the nose with little whiffs of underbrush, game, and sandalwood. Fine fruit and resolving structure and a luxuriating, lingering finish to the palate. There's splendid inner mouth perfume and a fine bit of the peacock's tail. Bottle courtesy of SH.
(91-92) Serious stuff with Beaune earth/leather and rust/iron type blood minerality with the energy and freshness of the vintage. A bit drying on the backend with unresolved tannins and acidity popping out but this is quite transparent and classic in its delivery today. Should hold a bit too. Upside/drastic potential? I"m not sure, this may always retain some "dryness" in it's character going forward but who knows? Lots of style.

I bought a few bottles of this in the early 90s, and we drank all but this one long ago. Not sure why I kept it so long, but it showed quite well.
I decanted it just before serving. Cork in excellent condition. The colour was a fairly pale red-brown, faded but still quite good. On the nose it was classic old burgundy, really quite attractive and still with some fruit. On the palate, it was somewhat faded and austere, but still pretty good for a pinot noir of this age. Reasonably long aftertaste.
Overall, still holding up relatively well.

Medium garnet color; nose is soil-inflected with rusty iron, earthy, turns somewhat more earthy; licorice, more savory and strict; drying out a bit(?)
