  • I am with Frank- Glaze nails the character. Served with roast duck and this long forgotten bottle launched the meal into the stratosphere.

Tons of secondary character, a silky mouthfeel, gorgeous integration. Everything ties together into an impressive package made all the more impressive because in that this is a second label for the vineyard.
    Well done!

once again provenance rule the day as this was not listed in my inventory.
Time has served this well but should you have any likely its bester to drink near-term.

  • This is not a 90+ point wine. Wine was uncorked to a nice dark stain, but came out in about 5 pieces. The nose out of the bottle was generic fruit. I've experienced this exact nose in a ton of sub 20 dollar bottles of merlot, cab, meritage, and pinot noirs. That being said, the nose of this bottle was extremely generic and didn't give me anything specific. It smelled like "wine." Poured a very deep dark red into the glass. The nose in the glass was again quite generic, but after about 15 minutes there was a distinct vanilla and blackberry, with a bit of wildflower. The wine was very fruit forward and a bit sweet - blackberry, boysenberry, but also had tobacco leaf and leather notes that carried through to the mid-palate. There was a bit of heat on the finish, but the finish was surprisingly well balanced with some good blackberry, some mocha notes dancing in and out, some rather significant white pepper spice, and some medium tannin that was neither obnoxious nor wimpy. The wine started out pathetic, but finished rather nicely. As long as you just drink this one and don't smell it out, it's a really good bottle. Drink this one now, because it's done by 2013.

  • I liked this a good notch better than the last bottle over a year ago. Initially there is some cured meats and teriyaki among the rich dark berry fruits. A nice pepper note comes out on night two. Still showing some fleshiness of the extraction. Medium tannin and wanting some acidity to pick up the finish but not completely flabby. Tasty if not complex on the palate. There is some warmth on the very back end. Nice for a bigger styled Syrah.

  • Big big big nose with oak, blueberries, smoke and a little dust. The palate is big as well with ripe strawberry and raspberry favors. Nice acid and long finish but simple? I like it for the price...
