This is the 4th out of 5 bottles I have opened where I experienced a broken/crumbled cork. I have 1 bottle left, and I expect the same when I open it. Had to double decant.....through cheese cloth the second time to get rid of the crumbled cork. Was decanted for 11/2 to 2 hours. At least the wine was OK. A bottled opened last September had the bad cork and was not very good. The wine in earlier bottles with bad corks was OK.

Big wine. Dark cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant with dark spices, along some sweeter cedar notes and tobacco leaf. Nice touch of graphite and some Minerality and mature earthiness on finish. Right bank claret at its drinking peak!
Popped and poured and aired in glass.
NB this was another bottle with a dire, crumbly cork. Thankfully it had still done its job and the wine was in great condition (once the pieces of cork had been filtered out!)

Ery similar to previous bottles. Fullish, plummy yet with minerality. Drink up. The corks are awful. (90)

Probably a little past it’s prime there was some aging discoloration but the wine was fine despite the crumbling cork.
Dry with good tannic structure Decanted an hour but after a second hour the wine opened up with black cherry and cassis. A hint of smoke and leather
